Ladder safety month
March is National Ladder Safety Month! Ladder safety is among the top 5 frequently cited standards, so we feel that it’s critical to raise awareness of safe ladder use. This year’s theme will focus on choosing the right ladder, inspecting and setting it up, and hazards to consider when climbing and at the top of the ladder. So, for all our friends working high up, enjoy your month and make sure to stay compliant with OSHA’s latest ladder standards!
Susan Hardwood Training Grant
In other news, OSHA recently announced that the Susan Hardwood Training Grant is offering $3.2 million for infectious diseases. A little bit of background, OSHA awards grants to nonprofit organizations on a competitive basis. These grants are awarded to provide training and education programs for employers and workers on the recognition, avoidance, and prevention of safety and health hazards in the workplace. This year’s grants will fund remote and in-person training and education on Covid-19 and other work-related infectious diseases.
Record-breaking gas prices
The war in Europe and increasing energy prices are causing alarm across the world. Because of the dramatic price increase, in wake of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, the national average for a gallon of gas is now the highest in United States history, breaking the record that stood for nearly 14 years. Biden officials have recently leaned towards supporting oil and gas production but are still steadfast about their long-term focus on advancing clean energy projects. We’ll update you on what the future holds for oil and gas production.
