Offboarding Checklist
Before an employee leaves your company, there are several things you need to do to prepare. This checklist covers the four major categories of employee offboarding:
- Employee’s knowledge
- Administrative tasks
- Company assets
- IT tasks
Not only is it important to collect company belongings and reset important security information that the employee has access to, but it’s also critical to part as amicably as possible. This involves taking the time to understand the employee’s decision to leave and supporting them.
It also involves acting on any feedback you receive about the company, pay, workload, etc., during the exit interview. Although this checklist doesn’t cover these areas, make sure you take the initiative to leave the door open for high value employees who might return later. Plus, any improvements you make can reduce turnover in the future.
